The authors of the family house of Dr. František Švec clearly started from their experiences in designing minimal workers’ flats during their student years, yet also clearly welcomed the chance to create, for an educated middle-class client, a standard form for a single-family house with a touch of luxury. Minimalistic formal means linked to technical inventiveness allowed the architects to offer, even in a house of relatively modest dimensions, spatial comfort and a modern lifestyle – with sunlight, fresh air and greenery, as urged by the tenets of Functionalism.
